Welcome to the Health Basics 101 Series that I will be posting over the next several months!
Purpose:
Many people today are finally having their eyes open to the fact that the way they have been eating isn’t normal. They are also sick of being sick.
They know they need to eat healthier, but in the midst of all the confusing nutrition and diet info out there, many just don’t know where to effectively start.
Well, not to worry… The purpose of this series is to help provide that starting point!
Providing the Basic Foundations:
There are so many philosophies and approaches to health, but at the same time, I’ve come to realize that there are core, basic truths that are common to almost all health methodologies. This particular series will address the BASICS of a naturally healthy diet. (Non-dietary factors of health and various traditional methods of cooking will be discussed in great detail in other posts and/or series) I will provide practical guidelines of how to get away from the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) and transition towards a naturally healthy diet. I will basically summarize information that I have learned over the past 12 years and direct you to articles and resources that I have personally found helpful and sound.
What Will Be Covered:
At the core of a healthy diet are two primary principles that, I believe, need to be mastered FIRST if you want to experience long lasting health:
- Eliminating stimulants and stimulating ingredients
- Incorporating whole foods and all natural ingredients
This series will elaborate on these two principles and will be posted in 10 installments. As each installment is posted, the appropriate topic text below will be turned into a link for you to access that post.
Eliminating stimulants and stimulating ingredients:
Incorporating whole, live foods and natural ingredients:
- Green Smoothies: A Nutritional Powerhouse
- Incorporating salads
- Delicious whole food snacks
- Natural probiotics
- Alkaline and living foods
Making Healthy Habits!
This series began as a result of a ladies health accountability group I’m part of and organize. Starting this month (March), we began focusing as a group to build habits in our health by working on one goal each month (based on the above list).
To help overcome the feeling of being overwhelmed, I encourage implementing 1-2 principles for 2-4 weeks in order to help build that as a habit before adding more to your regime. I’ve found that taking on too much at one time can be too much for most people, physically, mentally and financially. Furthermore, by slowly incorporating each principle, it will also help to lessen the severity of detox symptoms that many will experience as a result of eating healthier foods.
I hope this series is a great benefit to you as you seek to build a strong foundation in your health! Even if you’re farther along in your health journey, going back to BASICS is always a nice reminder and great motivator. Thank you for joining me in this series!
